About Psychology

If you are curious about why people behave the way they do, consider studying psychology-- the science of mind and behavior.

  • Why are some people (but not others) willing to help strangers?
  • Can we be trained to learn more from our classes?
  • Are men more attracted to funny women or smart women?
  • Do docile babies grow up to be easy-going adults?
The Psychology department at Dominican prepares students for post-graduate degree programs like social work, clinical psychology and art therapy and even undergraduate careers in law, banking or business.

The Psychology department offers undergraduate research opportunities as well as extensive classroom training in understanding human behavior, critical thinking and making arguments.

  • Check out Dominican’s Third Annual Expo on April 7, where several psychology students will present poster sessions on their independent research; and Sandra Alvarez will give an oral presentation about her independent research completed as part of the Undergraduate Summer Scholar Program.
